General Description of Role & Responsibilities

The Director of Communications  is responsible for managing communications between the organization and its members and other parties.    

Requirements

This position requires an individual with strong communication, collaboration and organizational skills.  A high degree of creativity and the ability to handle multiple high priority projects is needed.  The Director of Communications will need to maintain effective communication and working relationships with each of the other Board members, in particular the Directors of Programs, Membership and Sponsorship and the President.  Experience and technical skills required for working with the BAodn website, blog and social media are desirable but may be taught as needed for position.  Some duties may be delegated to another volunteer(s) or HSMC such as developing and sending out mass emails in which case the Director of Communications will need to manage such activities.

Communications Director Activities

Specific tasks and projects which will be performed by the Director of Communications  include the following:

• Manage the BAodn website, working with the Websites Team Lead
• Develop communications/marketing plans for BAodn sponsored events and programs
• Manage the monthly BAodn newsletter, MemberLinks
• Manage the BAodn blog
• Create and work with other Board members to develop and maintain effective policies and guidelines around communications
• Supervise one or more volunteers to assist with specific communications functions
• Seek out and leverage new opportunities for disseminating information about BAodn and BAodn activities to the OD community
