Michael Broom


Michael F. Broom, Ph.D., is an organizational psychologist with over thirty (30) years of experience studying and consulting with organizations toward productivity improvement and employee satisfaction. This has included working with for profit, not for profit, government agencies, and educational institutions. He was senior faculty of the Johns Hopkins University‘s Fellows in the Management of Change. And, he has served as adjunct faculty in the American and Georgetown universities program. He has served on the board of directors of the NTL Institute in Applied Behavioral Science and is currently on the board of the national Organization Development Network.

He is the founder of the Center for Human Systems which sponsors with Edith Whitfield Seashore the Triple Impact Programs to provide those involved with managing change a depth of practical skills that is immediately applicable. The Center has run this intensive and extensive programs in Columbia, Maryland, Philadelphia, San Francisco, New York City, and Anchorage, Alaska.

He is author of The Infinite Organization published by Davies-Black Publishing and co-author with Dr. Donald Klein of Power, the Infinite Game published by Sea Otter Press, 1999.

Introducing Bev Scott

Bev Scott


Bev has been a consultant to organizations, managers and individuals bringing clarity, focus, integrity and a sense of purpose to her work. She has over 35 years of experience in a full range of organization and management development consulting in the for-profit and the non-profit sectors. She served for fifteen years as the Director of Organization and Management Development for McKesson Corporation. Bev has written on the subjects of employee involvement, change and communication including a book on Quality Circles. She served as editor of Vision/Action, the professional journal for the Bay Area Organization Development Network for five years. With co-author, Kim Barnes, she recently authored the 2nd edition of Consulting on the Inside, a book on internal consulting, originally published in 2000 by the American Society for Training and Development.

Since 2005 she has offered 3rd act workshops and coaching for the “mature generations” who are transitioning from full time career and family responsibilities, the second act, and want to create a life with purpose, engagement and passion for their third act. See www.the3rdact.com

Bev served on the faculty of the Organizational Psychology Program at John F. Kennedy University. She has been active in both the local and national OD Network and served on the Board of Trustees for the National ODN Board including chair for 2 years. She has presented her work at her own professional meetings and served as a speaker and facilitator for many other professional associations. She has Masters degrees in Sociology and in Human Resource Development.

Bev is active in her community and currently serves on the Board of Horizons Foundation of the Bay Area.

Introducing Mary Ann Ireland, MA MSC

Mary Ann Ireland, MA, MSC, is a coach, trainer and facilitator working primarily with individuals and teams.  Her background traverses the life sciences, business, organizational development and coaching as she has successfully worked in positions of sales, marketing and consulting for more than twenty five years.  Over four years ago, she co-founded The Stratam Group, www.stratam.com, a leading-edge consulting firm that uses Commitment-based Management (CbM) methodology to improve the communication and coordination efforts in Life Science and Technology companies.  Her clients have included Elan, Roche, Johnson & Johnson, Portola Pharmaceuticals, Theravance, Cisco, MedAmerica, Life Technologies Inc., Chiron (currently Novartis), Elavon, and TrendMicro.  Mary Ann holds a degree in organic chemistry from Brown University and a M.A. in Organizational Psychology with coaching certification from JFK University.  She is a master somatic coach (MSC) through the Strozzi Institute, and is certified in management and leadership practices through the Institute of Generative Leadership.   Mary Ann founded the Biotech Organizational Learning and Development (BOLD) group in November of 2003, and leads the Core Team of this 90+ member best practice organization.


Introducing Richard Stackman, PhD

Richard W. Stackman (Ph.D.) is an associate professor and chair of the Department of Organizations, Leadership & Communication. He also serves as the academic director of the Organizational Behavior and Leadership degree completion undergraduate program and the Organization Development master's program. Dr. Stackman earned his doctorate in business administration from the University of British Columbia where he was the first recipient of the "Outstanding Teaching by a Doctoral Student" award. His undergraduate degree (cum laude) in business administration is from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Gamma Sigma.

His courses at both the undergraduate and graduate (including Master of Science in Organization Development, MBA, and MBA-Executive) levels have focused on such topics as organizational behavior, organization development, organizational change, leadership and management, consulting practices, human resources management, research methods, complexity science, and human capital investments. His primary scholarly interests include organizational change, organizational sages, complexity science, personal values, and personal networks. Dr. Stackman is the co-author of Managing Organizational Change (3rd Edition) and has published articles or chapters in the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Project Management Journal, Emergence: Community & Organization, World Futures, the Journal of Higher Education, the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, the Journal of Management Education, and the Handbook of Organizational Climate and Culture. He has also authored editor's introductions for the Academy of Management Perspectives and the Journal of Management Inquiry.

Dr. Stackman currently serves at the university level on the Faculty Budget Review Committee and the Task Force on Academic Integrity. He is the immediate past president of the Western Academy of Management (WAM) and is the section editor-Six Degrees-for the Journal of Management Inquiry. Prior to coming to the University of San Francisco in 2003, Dr. Stackman was on the faculty at the University of Washington-Tacoma and a visiting assistant professor at Georgetown University. Professionally, he worked for a daily newspaper.

Introducing Sara Tickler

Sara Tickler holds a Doctorate Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and a Master of Arts in Organizational Development. She is an Associate Professor at Sonoma State University where she teaches in the Organization Development Masters Program and the School of Business and Economics.

Sara has been a principal consultant for the past 20 years. She brings to her work a depth of experience and expertise in organization development, strategic planning, group facilitation, process improvement, change management, and conflict resolution. She has extensive experience in managing complex, long-term projects and has a successful track record of completing projects on time and within budget. Introducing Mary Fambrough


Mary Fambrough, teaches in the Masters of Organization Development and Doctor of Organization Psychology programs at the California School of Professional Psychology, Alliant International University in San Francisco.  She holds a PhD in organizational behavior from Case Western Reserve University and an MSOD from Pepperdine.

Before entering the academic world full-time, Mary had an entrepreneurial background as co-founder and manager of a mechanical engineering firm in Silicon Valley where she gained experience in management, HRD, marketing, strategic planning and implementation, and training and development.  She also worked extensively with construction industry unions in labor-management cooperation efforts and training.  She has also consulted to various organizations in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors, and has conducted small to medium scale interventions including search conferences, organizational change initiatives, strategic planning, team and leader development, coaching, and conflict resolution.  Her clients have included The Federal Reserve Bank, NASA, Lucent Technologies, AT&T, University Hospitals of Cleveland, Coca Cola, and numerous school districts and non-profit organizations.

Mary has also published book chapters and articles in journals such as Advances in Human Resource Development and the Journal of Applied Behavioral Science.  She regularly presents at conferences including the Academy of Management National Conference, the International Congress of Qualitative Research, and the Western Academy of Management.
